Smarter shopping lists: from recipe to cart without retyping

How Heated's shopping list turns recipes into one tidy list: merged amounts, multiple lists, real-time sharing with your household and a print view.

A shopping list sounds simple until you cook from three recipes in one week. Two of them need onions, one needs a pot of cream and the other wants a little more, and you are copying amounts from three browser tabs into a notes app.

Heated's shopping list does this part for you.

Add ingredients straight from a recipe

On any recipe, add its ingredients to your list in one step. You choose which ones; if you already have salt and olive oil, leave them out. Try it with the lemon chicken pasta.

From the meal planner you can add a whole week at once.

Amounts are merged

When two recipes need the same ingredient, it appears once on your list with the amounts added up. One line for onions instead of three makes the list shorter and the shop faster.

Add anything else

Not everything comes from a recipe. Type "washing-up liquid" or "coffee" into the quick-add field and it lands on the same list, with suggestions as you type.

More than one list

Keep separate lists for the weekly shop, the market and the chemist, and switch between them. A household list is shared with everyone in your household automatically.

Shop together in real time

When you share a list, changes appear on everyone's phone as they happen. If your partner ticks off the milk in one aisle, you see it in the next one. No more buying two bags of rice.

Little helpers

  • Best-before date: note a best-before date on items you want to keep an eye on.
  • Compact view: see more of your list on a small screen.
  • Print: prefer paper? Print the list in a clean layout.

Let your assistant write it

With Heated in ChatGPT or Claude you can say "add everything for the carbonara to my shopping list" and the items appear in Heated, merged with what is already there.
