Recipes without ads or tracking walls

Many recipe sites now ask you to accept tracking or pay before you see a recipe. Here is how Heated works instead, and what that means for you.

If you look up a recipe in Europe today, the first thing you often see is not the recipe. It is a banner: accept advertising and tracking, or pay for a subscription. Once you are through, the ingredients sit somewhere below ads, videos and a long introduction.

This is the "pay or accept" model, and it has become common on large recipe and news sites. It is not illegal, but it is a lot of friction when you just want to know how much flour goes in.

How Heated works instead

Heated is built the other way around:

  • No ads. There are no ads in Heated: not in the recipes, not between the steps, not in the app.
  • No tracking wall. You can open and read every public recipe right away, without an account and without a banner in the way.
  • The recipe first. Ingredients and steps are at the top. No life story to scroll past.

Why we do it this way

A recipe is a tool you use while your hands are busy. Every banner, autoplay video or jumping layout gets in the way of that. We would rather earn your trust with a fast, calm app than with ad space.

Heated is free to use: the cookbook, meal planner, shopping list and cook mode come with a free account. Heated Premium is an optional subscription that adds step videos to your own recipes, and some AI features can require it; the pricing page has the details.

What you get with a free account

Reading needs no account. With a free account you can also:

  • save recipes to your cookbook and sort them into collections,
  • plan the week in the meal planner,
  • add ingredients to your shopping list and share it with your household,
  • and cook step by step with timers in cook mode.

Curious? Start with a recipe, for example a quick couscous salad, and see how it feels when nothing is in the way. Or read why Heated in full.
